We offer a free home visit service providing information and support to people over 55 in North Bristol to help them stay independent in their homes and combat social isolation.
Our friendly and experienced volunteers can visit older people at home, talk through their individual needs, and provide tailor-made help and guidance.
We can offer income maximisation checks to make sure you're claiming all the benefits you're entitled to; advice on energy best deals and keeping your home warm; help with managing your money and making it go further and a range of IT courses to help you improve your computer skills. We have a comprehensive database of local contacts and can provide information on housing adaptations, social activities, transport, health and more. We also run a regular programme of events and activities in Lockleaze and Horfield.
Activities, Trips and Events
> Fortnightly Shopping Trips
Every other Friday, we are providing a shopping trip to either ASDA, Morrisons, Sainsbury's or Tesco. The mini bus will collect from Gainsborough Square, Romney Avenue and John James Court from 10am returning from the supermarket at 12.30pm. There will be plenty of time to do your weekly shop and socialise in the café.
Places are limited so it's important to book. Please call Janie on 0117 951 5751 to secure your place now!
> Tea and Talk
These regular social gatherings are a chance for older people to get together and meet in a friendly, informal setting. Tea and Talk events are held in the Langley Centre and at community venues across the area.
> Monthly Trips
We run trips out and about every month, providing a regular programme of varied and fun events. Recent trips have included North Somerset Butteryfly farm, an ACTA Theatre production, Clevedon Pier and Bristol Botanical Gardens. Transport is provided.
> IT Courses
We run regular courses to help older people use computers and get online, including basic IT skills courses and workshops on shopping online, making free phone calls using Skype, and more.
